Which do you have? What do you like/ dislike about the model you currently own? I have some experience with the top mount and find the bottles heavy to change. I'm interested in a bottom mount but not sure about the pros/ cons of that style of cooler. I notice Costco has a Stainless steel one for under two hundred bucks but not sure if that's reasonable or not. The last one I had I rented and in the end it cost me a fortune so not interested in doing that again.

I have a bottom loading water cooler. Black and Decker brand, bought from Costco maybe 4 years ago. Love it, never have any problems with it and we get through a lot of water! Can't remember exactly how much we paid, but pretty sure is was quite a bit over $200. They likely have come down in price now I'm thinking.

Was visiting family over the weekend. They have a bottom mount. Don't know what kind it was but I like it better. The top ones are awkward and heavy at times. The bottom was easy, open the door, take off plastic cap, insert siphon tube on top, slide water jug back under cooler. Easy. If we ever got another cooler bottom would be my choice. I hate the top mount as many have the plastic part that is to puncture the cap and I have broken a couple over the years.

We used to have a top-mount, and when it pooched out we got a bottom-mount Black and Decker I believe. We definately like the bottom-mount better, easier to change the jug and havent noticed any parts that have built up green algae yet!

We have a bottom mount and it is womderful. Easy to change the bottle, less concern that the cooler will fall over if touched by a toddler, the water controls are on top which makes it very hard for young kids to reach (bonus they're not continually playing in it/soaking my floor!).  
 
We got it at the Depot. It has 3 options: ice cold, room temp and boiled water.  
 
We get our water delivered by Blue Moon water which is an awesome service!!! Highly recommend. Its so easy I never have to lug water jugs around!

We also have a bottom mount cooler. Got it from Superstore here in Brandon 2 or 3 years ago. Still works as good as the day we bought it, I really like it. I believe it was around $200. It's super easy to change out the bottles and I like that the bottle is hidden underneath so you don't see it like you do with the top loading coolers.  

About the pump? I'm assuming bottom mounts has one. So therefore during a power outage no water? Is it louder than say a top mount?

The only time i notice ours as noisy is when it is filling the reservoir but that's not often and isn't long lasting.  
 
As for water during an outage you would have however much is in the resevoir, beyond that I am unsure... Never had it happen!
