It's extremely difficult being diagnosed in Canada. The outdated ELISA test available here has been proven to be flawed. (ELISA stands for Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay). Many Manitobans will seek help with the igenex lab in California, who will seek the more comprehensive Western Blot test.

Treatment for suspected Lyme at the time of or shortly after a suspicious bite usually consists of 4-6 weeks of Doxycycline antibiotic.

that people aren't more routinely screened for Lyme. I have often wondered if I have it, and many others with other symptoms.

We are pretty sure my best friend has it. She has been sick for 2 years now this month. It has been so hard to watch her. Being diagnosed in Canada is so hard. I really advise everyone to read this article.
