I am in need of an understanding dentist. I have had teeth/gum problems my entire life and have left many dentist offices in tears, and because of this have been extremely reluctant to go to a dentist, even though I really need to and have wanted to. It's not getting work done that bothers me, it's being treated and spoken to poorly from the dentist. It's been many, many years since I have been to one, just because I'm scared of being spoken to rudely about the condition of my teeth/gums. Does anyone know of a very compassionate dentist In Brandon or surrounding area?

I was blessed with awful teeth and have had so much work done over the years I am fed up with it all.  
 
We have been happy with our new dentist, Dr Davies at Brightside. I had a small cavity filled recently and I did not even feel her putting the needle in to freeze me. My former dentist used to be so rough and he would wiggle the needle around in the gum - I was always in horrific pain afterwards.  
 
She seems to be very gentle with her demeanor too. As with any office, you will have some people that work there that are not all the same (some may be abrasive personality wise, others may be totally upselling you the whole time). I have not see too much of this at the new Brightside. There will always be upselling but so far so good with us.  
 
I am of course very upfront with them - if my insurance will not help cover it - I will not submit to it. I am on a very strict budget.  
 
My son has pretty bad teeth too - but unlike my friend who just had his dentist insist on over $2000 worth of cavities in his child's baby teeth, ours did not suggest doing anything to his unless they were bugging him. Which they are not, and they should be falling out soon anyway.

I would absolutely recommend Dr. McNiven at the Westman Dental Group! He's very friendly and upbeat, and has been very understanding towards me in regards to my dental health and financial situation. I used to get worked up about visiting the dentist, but Dr. McNiven has totally changed my attitude and I now I don't have any anxiety about visiting the dentist. Go see Dr. McNiven...he's amazing

I go to Dr Justin Clair in Souris. If you are up for the 20 minute drive from Brandon I can assure you he is totally worth it. Very gentle and non judgemental. I finally got my husband in to him after being totally terrified of dentists from a childhood traumatic experience. He is now no longer afraid of the dentist. He needed a fair amount of work done too but Dr Clair picks one thing at a time. No judgement. He's just happy you are taking the next step to proper oral care.

He's at West-Man Dental Group. Wonderful dentist!! He's great.

This dentist had to deal with my 3 year old, unreasonable grandson with a chipped off front tooth. He was so gentle and relaxed. So then I decided to go to him and before he even did anything, he wanted to discuss everything and go over any fears. I had expressed several so he wanted to deal with any of them and he didn't make me feel silly or ridiculous. He just wanted to see if there was anything that he could do to make it easier. Forgot to mention he is with Chancellor Dental Group

I second Dr. Thiessen! He is probably the most compassionate dentist I've ever been to!

Very nice guy - you don't even feel him put the needle in for freezing. He is absolutely amazing!!

I am in a similar scenario as you and avoided work because of it. I saw Dr Chen at Westlake Dental ( after being frustrated and having my patience, time and money wasted by a different time dentist there )  
 
Dr Chen is good to work with and does good work. Among my work was multiple teeth pulled and he was great, making sure I was OK throughout the process each time , and taking care not to cause excess pain and damage. I highly recommend.

Dr. Kruk Sr. has suggested fillings for teeth that do not need to be filled.

This should read Westman a Dental, not Westlake.

Princess dental on 12th & Princess. I highly recommend them. I have been to a few different dental offices and this is the one I have had nothing but pleasant encounters with. I see doctor McIntosh. Their entire staff are there because they want to and love what they do. They are definitely cliental orientated.
