On another note...
You can take your family member home and care for at home.
The cost is free (your time and money). You can still be on the PCH wait list.
These are tough decisions and every situation is different but the rules are always the same.
Good luck in the process.

She needs a lifter to get in/out of bed. A lifter to get in/out bath, a lifter to get into a wheel chair, she is too weak to even stand. Neither of us have a house to have those pieces of equipment in our homes. So please, tell your dad I can't take my family member home.
Believe, nothing more would make me happier then to have her with me. " |

you have to pay for the health care because she requires too much care to manage at home. " |

I certainly don't have a problem with her paying once she gets into a personal care home. She will get help with feeding, she can be taken down to events, just a few extras being in PCH were we all know you have to pay.
I have a problem with her paying while being in a hospital. That is why we have Canadian Health Care. I know someone who was in the hospital a lot longer than she will be and did not pay, because of course he wasn't going to a personal care home.
It is all information I did not know until it happened and just putting it out there.
