In women doctors not believing you what would you do ?

You can ask them to perform the test to check for the disease!

Lyme disease can be hard to diagnose (especially after the fact) and often is misdiagnosed not just by female Dr, but Dr's in general.

Lyme disease is hard to diagnose and can take several blood tests before a positive result shows.  
 
I don't think it's fair to say it's only females missing the diagnosis or not believing you.

I think perhaps Rue is saying the issue is "lyme disease in women", not that the misdiagnosis is done by women doctors.  
I understand that the symptoms are different in women than in men.  
In any case, I'd try to get another opinion from a different doctor although I realize that's not easy.

We used to live in the country so I had lots of experience with them and my dog always had huge ones stuck to her.  
 
But I have never, ever had one bite me. Heck, it has been thirty years since I have seen one, and yesterday I had one attached to my leg. Man was I mad!!  
 
I was freaking out because of all the threat of tick diseases now. I am almost certain it was a dog tick, it was brown with that white circle on it - but it still has me a bit on edge watching that damned spot for a rash.  
 
I really hope the OP gets the answers they need. I have done a lot of reading on lyme, I wonder why doctors are so lax about it?? Is it because it is so hard to diagnose? Yikes.

Lyme disease is actually pretty bad, it turns into an almost degenerative type disease affecting joints and is very painful. Making me wish that they were less lax but it is very hard to get a proper diagnosis, which is why it's better to take the deer ticks in for testing. Also the target mark that usually is a big sign does not always show up in all cases.

Until you find the answer to your symptoms. I really hope doctors start screening for Lyme more regularly as there seems to be a rise and they symptoms can mask as something else.
