that you have an illness that you have tried to work through with therapy, talking, etc. Explain that with all illnesses sometimes you have to take medicine to feel better. Sometimes the medicine works and sometimes it doesn't, and you may have to try another medicine. Tell them the medicine you are taking is helping your illness. Just like someone who has diabetes and needs to take insulin to feel better. Explain that just the same as diabetes, you tried other alternatives but found that medicine is what works for now. Explain that you may have to be on this medicine forever, or perhaps you will not always need it. That there is nothing wrong with having to take a pill for an illness when all other resources have not helped.
Coming from someone with treatment resistant depression, I am glad you are feeling better.
