Who, in Brandon, would you recommend a teen with anxiety to? We're having difficulty getting him to vocalize any thoughts or feelings, and he's having difficulty in school. Any info is greatly appreciated. Also, approximate cost if known is helpful. Thanks in advance!

This is a process that helps people with anxiety. They don't necessarily have to talk their thoughts out if they are uncomfortable talking about what they are thinking and feeling. This process eliminates the negative thoughts, feelings, judgements that they have built up over time. It reduces their stress and is a very simple process. Cost is $65. Hello, one avenue that you could try is finding a counselor at Community Mental Health, located at the Town Centre. There is no fee for these services.

We took our child to the Child and Adolescent Treatment Center on 10th St (near Neelin). He was first seen by a Dr, we were recommended books to read etc. Then he saw (one on one, we did not go in) someone there who worked with him, then she would come out and talk to us all after.

Don't do Access Bars. It's an offshoot of Scientology. Unless you're into that kind of thing, I guess.  
 
Have you tried talking to the medical doctor? They can refer you for counseling/therapy. The school might be able to point you in the right direction too.  
 
Also, as someone who suffered from anxiety as a young adult, there is a time and place for medication to help get over the initial hump. Don't be afraid to at least explore that option when everything else fails (just don't use it a first-line treatment).

So much for all your input. I will definitely explore all options above and find out what works best for him! I didn't really know where to begin.

It is located on Princess ave across from the Westoba Credit Unlon. My daughter started going there when she was in high school, she was dealing with anxiety. They have counsellors that specifically deal with teenagers. My daughter still goes there when she finds that she needs some help managing her anxiety. Cost is $80 for an hour.

as someone who has tried many things including counselling to deal with stress. Access bars has been by far the most helpful of the modalities. I have read Scientology books by the author Ron L Hubbard. My opinion, the man has some serious issues. Definately scary... I have also read much of the information about Access Consciousness from many authors such as Gary Douglas and Dr Dain Heer.I can assure you that they are 2 separate things entirely and you may want to educate yourself before giving advice about topics you know nothing about. This person asked for help not drugs for their child.

I too have had great success with Access Bars. I've been to counselling and it was very beneficial but if someone has a hard time talking about their feelings or situation, it may not be the best for everyone. Or counselling can be used in conjunction with other modalities like Access Bars. I've read and watched different informational episodes of Scientology and can tell you there are absolutely no similarities to Access Bars.

I have severe depression and severe anxiety. I have used every resource available to me or referred to me by a psychiatrist. I have never heard of Access Bars in all my sources. I also don' believe a teen wants to read and learn. I am not saying medication is the only way to help him either. Even after a three month stint in CAP, I still never heard of access bars.  
 
Please see your doctor and get your son referred to the proper people.
