I'm suspecting that my 8 yr old daughter has SPD in regards to clothing - underwear and pants, waistbands etc. She has always had issues but we've always been able to find a kind of underwear or pant that works and then we buy lots. Over the last 4 days nothing has worked. I don't know if it was the heat that triggered it or what, but we are at our wits end. She is starting to get anxiety over getting dressed and feels sick about it.  
 
I know that a doctor's visit is in order... I'm assuming some therapy from what I can see on line about this. Has anyone else been through this that can point us in the right direction?

I would make contact with the folks at the Brandon Learning Disabilities Association, and CATC.

How about dropping the pants idea altogether and go with those light and airy dresses. As for underwear... Have considered boys sports underwear? I know it sounds weird, but I just shopped for underwear for my boys sports activities and found that some brands look way more comfortable than the standard "fruit-of-the-loom cotton briefs". Breathable material, wide waistbands and long leg lengths may give her the feeling that is more acceptable for her. If she's has a "bigger build", you might get away with a small men's which will give her more options. That's all I could suggest. ...Good luck.

Check in with an Occupational Therapist. They often work with children with sensory issues.

As far as I know, there is a pediatric psychiatrist at the hospital that deals with developmental issues that might be able to provide some guidance.  
 
Or you may also have better luck in seeing a pediatric neurologist at say the Children's Hospital. In either case, you have to get a referral via a family doctor.

I believe in neurodiversity: support the idea of people being differently abled are important to giving different perspectives on life.

Child and Adolescent treatment center is the way to go. I have a child with the same issues and they were extremely helpful there. Good luck!

Old daughter that has the same issue with underwear, swimsuits, pants and esp socks. She has been diagnosed with SPD and has other things that trigger a reaction but clothing's a big one. I to suggest you get in touch with catch we went there and the staff are unbelievable. They're very knowledgeable, friendly, understanding, and treat kiddos and parents with sensitivity. I highly recommend them. Also I've been there if you ever need someone to vent to pm me anytime.
