I am scheduled to have a LEEP surgery on Aug 3 and have some questions for ladies that have had one.  
 
I'll be with Dr. Shunmugam and the procedure will be done at the hospital. Does this mean that I will for sure be put under general anesthetic? I'm hoping so as I have anxiety and don't do well in these sorts of situations.  
 
How should I expect to feel afterwards? Will there be a lot of pain? I'm prepared for the discharge I'm told to expect, but I worry about the pain. I don't even normally have cramps with my period.  
 
Should I expect to go to work the next day, or just take an extra long weekend? I work in an office with a lot of sitting, some walking, and the occasional heavy lifting. I wonder if I should just err on the side of caution and plan for my relief worker to cover for me (no sick pay though means I'll be angry with myself if I stay home and am feeling totally fine!)  
 
Any other info I should be prepared for? Please feel free to share your experiences!

In my experience everyone at the hospital was great. The anesthesiologist was my favourite person that day, I have anxiety too. They put me under general.  
I felt completely fine after, still a little bit drugged. They keep you until you pee then you can go home. I'm pretty sure I was back at it the next day doing my regular daily things but I think it depends on the person.

Also looking for experiences on what to expect as well! I am scheduled to have my procedure done at Health Sciences and am finding myself becoming very anxious as to what I should expect. Hope yours goes well!!!

I would have asked these questions knowing I was going to be having this surgery to the doctor.  
 
Of course now it is highly unlikely you will see him before the surgery date, but I would write down all the questions you have and call his station, they may be able to put you in touch with a public health nurse or someone more qualified to answer your questions.

I guess everyone's expierence is different. The surgery part went great. Awesome staff. After i felt very nauseous. I didnt really have any pain but they said not really any lifting or pulling for a good week and nothing inserted after the leep for at least 6 weeks. Be prepared for a big skin like discharge thats like coffee grinds. They dont tell you about that. They will talk to you before hand to make sure you understand. As soon as they injected the sedation i didnt even count to 3 and was out.  
 
2 days after it started to hurt. Had got a uti from the procedure and very sick. Therefore it was more like a week off work rather then back to work next day. If you have cranberry juice on hand it mightt help with that.
