I am disabled, I received zero help from the govt. Not going to lie, it's really hard to find gainful employment in this city. Employment Manitoba and Westman Employment Services are two places you can look.
I am currently employed part time and it seems no matter how hard I push for more hours I am not getting them. Best advice I can give is to play to your strengths. In interview situations employers make decisions within the first minute or so of an interview and though most wouldn't admit it, they'll be reluctant to hire you at first glance. Be honest about your limitations but also assertive. Don't let people assume what you're capable of.
Try not to get pigeonholed, that's a rather unfulfilling place to be in, but be okay with settling. I'm going to be told I'm wrong but in my personal experiences employers are not overly accommodating to disabilities, nor do I find that they "get it" in regards to what a gainful job means to someone who is disabled, so you just got to work with the system unfortunately.
Lastly try not to get frustrated, it can feel like climbing a mountain at times but put yourself out there and roll with things.
