Good luck in finding another psychatrist. I have had Dr. Lint for a very long time, having treatment resistant depression.  
 
It will take forever to get to see him, if your doctor refers you, as he only takes patients on Tue. and Wed. afternoons.  
 
Dr. Ian McIntyre would be my next option if Dr. Lint ever left.  
 
Dr. V. Vipulanathan and Dr. Mano Vipulananthan would not be a choice near the top for me.

I think the poster named him, so that would not be a name he/she would be given to check out. He is just out of the mix for her/him. Lee has many patients, so just like any other doctor, some click and some don't. Many doctors have been named on this site as good or bad to go too, many threads if you search. She/he certainly did not say anything negative about him.  
 
At any rate....you can go to rate my MD and see many comments on any doctor. Those comments are much more des:criptive comments than hers.

Any other suggestions to help the OP in the direction they're looking for? I know you totally mean well Shebear but IMO The phrasing in the question is fine and respectful. The Dr mentioned rates quite well on RateMDs. There are a whole host of reasons that service provider and client might not be a match and there really isn't reason to assume it's a problem with either party.

Keep in mind there may only be a short list of available doctors.

Honestly, finding a psychiatrist is a very individual experience that no one can truly help you with. While the Doctor you mentioned is not for you, he's wonderful for many others. While previous posters may name their favourites: others may have reasons why they'd never recommend them. All in all, you may not have many to choose from based on availability so why not just go with whoever you are given and give them a fair chance. If they don't work out then you can try switching again. And take Rate MDs with a grain of salt. The majority of people will only go on something like that with a complaint rather than a positive experience.

I was only using Rate my MD, as an example.  
 
There are very negative experiences on all of the psychiatrists in Brandon.  
 
It will be tough to find a new one and get in to see him/her in a reasonable time.

Psychiatrists tend not to be able to offer frequent appointments. Their work tends to be more focused on diagnosis. It may be helpful to self-refer to MH in the Town Centre in order to access a counsellor with whom you can meet on a regular basis.

Absolutely! That's why health care especially can be so tricky to get opinions about. I had an obstetrician that I LOVE and trust with mine and my kid's lives despite a co-worker telling me about her terrible experience with him. Opinions are great but everyone's needs are so different. Shop around if you can but try to have reasonable expectations as well!

I did not really think I liked Dr. Lint at my first appointment either. But, he has been great. E-mails or calls me whenever I need him to. We now have a great patient/dr. relationship. Not sure where I would be without him. He also did not just prescribe pills, he has done some talk therapy.  
 
I also have a mental health nurse I see every couple of months who helps greatly if I need it between my appointments with Dr. Lint.

I know of someone who sees Dr. Lee for medication prescriptions/changes but sees a psychologist for actual counseling. That might be an option for you.

If you get a referral to Dr. Stambrook, he is a neuropsychologist. He comes to the assinaboine center to meet with patients regularly. He is nice, approachable, reasonable, and can help with counselling and possibly diagnosis. He is fantastic.
