Just wondering if anyone has ever experienced this. I've been married for almost a year and about a month ago started getting itchy bumps under my rings. I took them off and was putting hydrocortisone on it and it wasn't helping much so I had a pres:cription cream which helped and I had my rings cleaned and put them back on when the rash went away but now after wearing them for a week the bumps are back. Any suggestions? Thinking Maybe a dermatologist might be the answer.

As strange as it seems, some people do have allergies to certain metals, or a mixture of metals. So I think what you have is not uncommon. A dermatologist hopefully can help you.

A relative developed an allergy/rash to the metal button on their jeans. They were advised to paint a clear coat of nail polish on the side of the button touching their skin. Problem solved.

My Mom was allergic to certain metals. She was fine with 14K gold or higher but would react to costume jewellery, metal on watches (she would buy rubber/plastic type bands and put masking tape behind the faceplate to keep it off her skin), tape or nailpolish on jean buttons etc.  
 
You might need to purchase a ring in a different metal or material as the allergy might worsen with exposure (personal would not put nailpolish on a wedding ring).

Is your ring white gold by chance?  
My sister''s wedding rings do that to her because after a while the rhodium plating wears off and the metal beneath causes a reaction for some reason.  
You can get it re plated at a jewelry store, no need to purchase a different ring or use nail polish!

Are your hands in water a lot? I found I would get a rash under my ring if I was constantly in water and didn't dry under my ring.

Yes they are white gold! It just seems weird that this has started happening all of a sudden and I've worn them for a long time but the coating makes sense as I can see that the engagement ring is a bit different colour than the wedding band. Maybe I should check into that.

Yep, probably allergic to the nickel in the white gold. It's one of the most common metal allergies, and unfortunately once it starts it almost always gets worse with exposure. My daughter's medical ID bracelet made her wrist be like hamburger very suddenly, now we buy the expensive silver nickel-free ones for her. My mom also has a nickel allergy and can't even wear a watch most of the time without her reacting.  
 
But like BernadetteRay says, if you get it replated with rhodium it should help. Or else replace your set with a nickel-free set. It will be more expensive, but probably worth it seeing how you're going to hopefully wear them for a long, long time!!

Allergies or sensitivities could be the trouble but I know for myself I need to take all rings off at night so the skin can get air. Moisture can stay underneath and cause a bumpy eczema type rash. I know it is a bit of a pain but give it a try once it is cleared up.
