Don't even know if this is possible but I would like to rent an apartment or maybe even a small house that has at least a small yard . Want to sell my house and downsize but I know I will miss some of the outdoor yard activities in the yard by just going into a regular apartment .

Look for main floor apartments with patio doors.

Been a home owner for the last 25 years but now time to downsize. Don't know anything about the apartment scene in Brandon so looking for some suggestions. Live in the west end and would like to stay here but will relocate if need be.

consider a condo? Plenty of new ones with small yards going up in the south end. Always better to own than rent.

I would rather rent now than own again. Tired of paying taxes that constantly go up plus with some of the money from the equity from the house sale just want to lock the door and leave so I can travel extensively. With a house too many things to worry about when I leave plus you need a house sitter which is a pain. I will save on taxes plus receive 30% back on my rent . Also someone else can look after the maintenance.

Would also consider house sitting as an option.

Find a smaller home/yard. I do not recommend buying a Condo unless you have time to barter/bicker over legal jargon, condo fees and what is i:ncluded in the monthly condo fees. Is finding a smaller home/yard and hiring someone to assist with yard maintenance possible? As a condo owner I am still responsible for repairs in my own unit: exterior repairs (roof leak, eavestroughs etc.) are covered with condo fees (if money is left over, if no money is available all owners have to front the money in advance for repairs or agree to an increase in condo fees). Plus we cannot decorate areas that are considered "common areas" (walkways, flowerbeds etc.).

What is my budget? I will be retired on a fixed income. I could afford up to $1000 per month.
