Did you know that Alexander School has implemented a "Learning Through the Arts" enhancement to their curriculum? In its simplest form, it is learning by doing. The old Chinese proverb, "Tell me and I will forget, Show me and I may remember, Let me do it and I will understand", is the basis for this type of learning. Many schools (most notably in Calgary in Canada) have successfully implemented this programming. They note that students are more involved, happier with school, get better grades, and are better behaved. Having done some research on this topic, I am convinced that not only is this type of learning better for kids, it is better for our society, as these kids are more tolerant of others, and become better problem solvers.
