There is a need for subsidized care(would have to be licensed) and for QUALITY care. (keep in mind, quality can be private care too) Being private you can only have 4 with no more than 2 under 2 years so keep that in mind if you have children of your own.
Opening a home daycare is NOT babysitting though! It is like any other business and will require lots of time, effort and money. There are costs involved and you will likely spend more time working from home than you ever did when you worked out of the home. It is not as easy as just opening your home to "babysit". From my experience, too many open up thinking it will be an easy way to make money while getting to stay home and than they close up within 1-3 years after they realize the work that needs to be involved. It isn't for everyone!! However, saying that, it is one of the most rewarding jobs you will ever have
Summer can be hit and miss for starting but Fall is usually the biggest demand. This year, going from inquiries I've had, September has a huge need for care! Good luck if you decide to open

The biggest piece of advice I can give is to have a solid contract in place!
