| | | Waitn' for the weekend said "After I lost my cat of 17 years I wasn't ready to commit to a new pet so I tried fostering. It was very nice. I fostered a momma and her kittens. You basically care, raise, and bring them to the vet when needed. Very rewarding. And in the end I ended up adopting one of the kittens! You still need to sign up and show that you are capable of caring for such an animal. But you can foster any kind of pet they have weather it be a cat or dog. The best part is that they get to stay with you! " |

that does sound rewarding and I've noticed the need for foster homes for cats from previous discussions. However my kids already have 2 cats and are not allowed to have any more. I'm on disability so I live in a nice but very small apartment that would not be suitable for a cat. So fostering wouldn't work for either of us.
The reason for this discussion was to find options for volunteering with animals in Brandon to:
1. give us something to do together that would involve our love of animals
2. Help me ease back into a work-like environment as I haven't worked for years due to a disability
3. Give my son some experience in a work like environment.
I will be seeing if I can figure something out so that maybe the Humane Society would work out, but I was hoping to find options IN Brandon as well because I don't have a vehicle and even the bus is not affordable at times for me. The humane Society is a good bit out of town. I just thought there might be other options.
