my cat is 13 & I know they change she's eating good content question she's getting thinner looking in the back side & her fur starts to separate do you do anything to put weight on different food ,oils for her fur .

If she is a moist cat food eater-you can switch her to kitten food. It is great for helping weight and other nutrients. I have used the senior cat food, but my cat didn’t like it as much as the kitten.

we used to give our old kitty some boneless canned salmon, on the advice of our vet.

you may want to think about the causes for weight loss. We are going through this with our 13 yr old cat and it turned out to be a thyroid issue. It started with just weight loss and manifested into ravenous hunger and weight loss. Now he is on meds.

If your cat hasn't had a check up recently, the first step would be seeing the vet for a comprehensive check up and blood work panel. There are many medical conditions that can cause weight loss, some easily treated if caught early.

get your cat to the vet and tell them your concern ASAP! That was my concern too when i noticed my 16 yr old cat was getting thinner at the back end. Now he`s on thyroid for the rest of his life but its helping with his energy and its keeping him alive that much longer!

Yep time for the vet. Teeth or diabetes are also other possible causes. Good luck! Chances are if your cat is eating and still losing weight there is an underlying medical cause.

I fed my cat tuna for the last years of her life, as well as good quality dry food (Superstore brand, I think it's called Nutrition First). They need some oils, and canned cat food is full of all sorts of gross stuff; canned tuna is just what a kitty needs. About 1/4 tin per day or a bit more if your cat really likes to eat. This will keep kitty from becoming constipated, too.

As wonderful as it is to be able to take our pets to the vet sometimes its not financially possible. Especially if this was a stray you gave a loving home to all these years. If your fur friend isn't behaving ill or differently let it be. Our lil darling is 13 and has the same signs your describing and has been to the vet. Her teeth are getting bad and I don't have 800 bux for surgery. She isn't in any pain and is still eating. It was recommendedd to feed her senior food or kitten food. Increase her moist food and please please don't give your cat tuna as most recently a friends cat developed bladder crystals from this(vet told him this) As a senior they need more nutrients softer foods( sounds like people too) I only take my 3 rescued strays to the vet if they are suffering/sickly . We had a 23yr old with no teeth , which napped all the time and got thin. She still ate, played with her toys and lived her life as a old as dust senior kitty until she declined and we put her down. Do what you can until its no managable without a vets advise.
