Was wondering if anywhere in Brandon does cat grooming? I called the vets office and they want 150$ to shave her :/ and I don't have that kind of money for 2 shaves a year. She's got very long fluffy hair. I brush her regularly bit I've noticed a couple of Mats on her hind end. So I'd like to get those dealt with so they don't create a problem.

Your best off going to the vet...sounds like a good deal anyways

I don't want to sedate her unnecessarily. She was very sick as a baby and I feel that would put too much of a strain on her. I have calming herbs for her and know they work. And she's not due for another checkup as it hasn't even been a year yet since her last check.

Not sure, but worth a call.

Not all cats need to be put under I have done lion cuts and for the most part they go well. If your cat is scared of noises it might be a different story but if you go to a groomer that let's you stay with them sometimes that helps settle down the cat from what I have found when doing it it's the noise of the clippers that scares them but there usually OK for about 45 mins to an hour at least the ones I have done were any longer than that they start to get pretty stressed

Can you just snip out the mat? I used to have to do that occasionally with one of my cats as her undercoat would get matted sometimes.

I shave cats often, I charge $20-$30 depending on how bad the mats are, also charge extra if it is a difficult cat to deal with.

I am going to do some positive reinforcement training with her before I take her somewhere to get shaved. She's super friendly however is kind of a scaredy cat. I have considered everything and won't put her in a situation she cannot handle. I have taken down the information, when we are at that point I will make an appointment
