Dog Door?

Anyone use one with success for a large dog, allowing dog access to the garage. Concerns: winter freeze up, making garage colder, dog won’t use it, it might let other creatures into the house, what to do with door if we no longer need it, access for intruders?! Thoughts/experiences, thanks.
