    Glucosamine for Dogs

    Was curious on what sort of brands people use of Glucosamine for their dogs and where they buy it. Is it strictly from the vet or is purchased at pet stores or online? We currently just finished our first bottle from the vet and found it was rather pricey @ $62.00 + tax. I was just curious if there are cheaper options out there without compromising the quality. Thanks in advance

    use glucosamine for made for human use, but some things to watch for:  
     
    Correct dosage, make sure it does't have any other ingredients that may not be safe for your dog, and some dogs may not easily take the human ones that are not flavored just for them.  
     
    I give my dog webber naturals. Can be purchased at Walmart for about half the price of the veterinary stuff.

    Short story. Our German Shepherd has chronic inflammation in her hips. Vet recommended meloxicam, vet version, $200/ mo. We said no, we’d find another way. Vet hemmed and hawed and said “well, we can give her the human version”.  
    $30 for 2 months. Same thing. We can buy it from the drug store. Go buy generic glucosamine at Walmart at the recommended dose. Save a bundle.

    I always bought a large bottle at WalMart for my mastiff. He’d have one at breakfast and one at supper. Also, you can get them at Costco!
