Hi Everyone, Good Morning. My chow chow won’t eat her food . I got hey the Royal Canin Dry Food. I’ve been trying to feed her different dog foods, but she’s been so picky and she seems like eating homemade human food. But my point is, I don’t want her to get used my eating just human food, I want her to learn to eat her own food. Is anyone here owns/ owned a chow chow? Any tips of food that I can give her that’s she will like it. I really want my love to gain weight. Please. Any helpful suggestions are welcome. Thank You I’m advance

Hi we feed our yorkie some Royal Canin and 1/6 can of Cesear and she will eat that with no problem.

We currently have 4 chows and yes they are very stubborn and picky. We tried basically every brand out there for food and we settled on certain flavours of Acana dog food. Chows are known for hip issues so pls keep an eye out for signs for issues and only feed high quality food, not the cheap stuff that is just full of soy filler from the regular big box stores. One of our dogs used to be so picky and lazy that we had to bring him his food where he was sitting and hand feed him, thankfully he grew out of that lol.

you say "human food" what exactly do you mean? If they don't like dog food, try a homemade raw diet. I did that until my one dog ended up turning his nose up at it and got a grain allergy. Now I am on Ancana from Petlovers. He is extremely active, so he gets a cup of ground beef and a protein powder (Vertex) everyday. My one dog eats almost more money in food than I do, whereas my older dog (less active) gets a little lower quality food as she is a couch potato. I don't have a chow, so this information may not be good for that animal, but it works for mine and the ladies at Petlovers are awesome to help out with food, very knowledgeable and have buyer rewards (I don't work there, but wish I did for employee discounts).

is what I feed my VERY picky Husky. You have to be prepared like I was to not be "guilted" by your dog even if it takes 4 or 5 days for them to start eating the new food. I tried the vet-suggested mix-the-new-int- the-old until they're eating only the new food & she picked out only the old food. I then did the tough love bit & put out ONLY the Acana duck. And from experience, no matter HOW old the dog is & how active (or not) feed them good quality food no matter what - saves on vet bills I've found. My Husky kept getting ear issues with an outlay of $$$ for the vet until I switched her to Acana & that health issue is now sorted out. I used to feed the barn cat cheaper food & she ended up with skin problems (hot spots etc.) until I switched her to a high quality food even though she's a barn cat.
