I was wondering how much dogs out of the litter does the stud get?

Isn’t it usually just first pick of the litter( so one)

If this is a question that you need to ask on a pubic forum, I presume you are not breeding CKC/ AKC/ IOBE registered dogs. Therefore, you are a backyard breeder. Please do not contribute to the over population of dogs, which is often made worse by well-meaning individuals but which is totally irresponsible. Please be responsible and have your dog spayed or neutered. If you can not afford it, there are programs to help (such as the SNIP program through Funds for Furry Friends).

This person I am sure is excited to sell their Laboodleshizle for like $400 per dog. I am guessing they paid for their dog. Figure to breed it and sell the litter to recoup the original price of the dog and then some.

But Fishinguy, I'm certain a Laboodleshizle is worth at least a thousand dollars!!

It was a curious question on my part.  
Did not mean to offend anyone by asking a simple question.  
The feedback I did get was not that helpful and it still did not answer my question.  
One guy said the stud gets one, which I believe is right but other people would fail to differ on that. Is why I was asking the question.

I presume that you are not aware that there are many PUPPY MILLS that breed registered dogs. Yes, dirty, caged, mistreated REGISTERED dogs. Registration does not always mean that a dog is up to breed standards, healthy, and of good temperament. I know of a few people that home-raise un-papered dogs. They are very reputable and honest. The dogs receive excellent vet care, grooming, quality food, and love. They have waiting lists for pups. Raising quality puppies requires a lot of responsibility, work and expense, and yes, they do expect compensation for that. I do not think “back yard breeder” is a fair des:cription.

You're correct. That would be why many reputable breeders (both registered and even some BYB) will insist on no-breed contracts for animals destined to be pets. Anything else, frankly, is irresponsible.  
 
If the OP has an intact, registered animal, unless they're showing the animal or had the intention of breeding them, I would suspect that perhaps it wasn't from a reputable breeder (as you suggest can happen)? Because someone who either shows animals or breeds animals on the up-and-up would probably know the information the OP is seeking.

holy moly, thanks for the replies! And thank you for those who inboxed me with their stories, but seriously I only asked how much dogs the stud takes home.

Such high prices!!! I would love a Labre doodle for 400!
