delpmb said "that lives across the backyard fence from me. He is a big dog ( was told he was a puppy last summer), I think a bull terrier type.
one day when I was doing yard work and happen to be talking to the owners the dog came running over and barked 'aggressively " ( like right at me from the other side of the fence) when I voiced my concern to them they assured me that he was a friendly fella and would not hurt a fly. there was no attempt to curb his barking, I said "I hope you won't be telling me that from my hospital bed" jokingly (?) kind of sort of
but I am concerned
I am not "labeling" the dog because of the breed but it does make me more apprehensive than if it was another
They are nice people and I like dogs , I am a yard person and I will have to deal with this a lot during the summer months

of this dog trust your instincts! Many years ago we had a neighbour who owned a pit. My mother loved all animals but this dog always worried me not just because he was a pit but because when I tried to pet him he never acknowledged me, he never sniffed my hand like most dogs will when first meeting them, he had no reaction at all. It turns out he attacked his owner's parent's small dog and almost ripped the wee dog's leg off.
Glad that there is a fence between, but the owners should be stopping their dog's barking or at least trying to curb it.
