What to do with Pets if sick?

I would imagine there are people living alone with pets. What would they do if they got sick with Covid and were admitted to hospital? Are any of the kennels open?

As a pet owner, this is a good question. I'm sure the one I usually use has closed. I'm sure people here will suggest that a family member or friend can check on them but not sure I have that option. Family lives far away and when I have tried to find someone to check on my pet if away for a day, I've been unsuccessful.

If you get sick and need care let me know I’ve fostered for local agencies and have two dogs of my own that are well behaved, Big fenced yard as well. I’ll foster your dog until you get to better health. Send me a PM on here.

I am hoping no one will need your services.
I am single with 2 terriers. If I get sick and have to go to the hospital I would not have anywhere for them to go.

But as I am healthy right now:
I will also offer to foster a dog should someone not have any where else to send their dog, if they get sick and have to go to the hospital.

The kennel we use has advertised it is still open, stated they were deemed essential services. They will give priority to essential service workers who may need to leave their pets alone for long periods of time. I'm sure they also would take your pet if hospitalized.

I don't know about Manitoba - but I do know in Sask. if you were to get sick, you or your Dr. can phone your Vet {Small town Country Vets} and they will have a list of names of individuals who are willing to step in and help out - I needed this help a few years ago and the individuals who helped were wonderful - they even kept in contact with me while I was hospitalized.

Boarding kennels are an essential service in Manitoba. So there are options for that if someone is too ill to care for their pets or is working crazy hours.
