Where to find a small dog

I have been looking for a small-medium breed dog, preferably hypo allergenic and low shedding. It would be nice to adopt one but these seldom are in rescue. Where can I find one of these dogs. From time to time they are on ebrandon classifieds but most of the time they are scams.

I've generally had luck with a google search for breeders if you are looking for a specific breed.

Also have found our last 2 dogs through ads on kijiji.

And yes, I do travel to meet the breeder and dogs prior to giving a deposit due to scams.

Adopt if you can. If they don’t have exactly what you are looking for, they can steer you in the right direction.

Can you send me a message? Yes I’d love to adopt, so many dogs need homes. If allergies weren’t an issue I’d be adopting through one of the local organizations.

reputable breeders in Manitoba. I did alot of internet searching and I visited potential breeders. My two yorkies are excellent pets.

no dog is truly hypoallergenic. this is a myth

As suggested and previous post, google dog breeds that are low shedding. But don’t get scammed by claims that a dog is totally hypoallergenic.

Do the research. Look into different breeds. If you find 2 or 3 breeds you are interested in look for breeders and ask if you can spend an hour with their dogs.

A dog is a 10-15 year commitment. Not to be taken lightly

I’ve had many dogs before and am well aware they are a 10-15 year commitment. That sentence is quite condescending. Mine passed away last year and felt ready for another, although this time, I would like a small dog that is hypo allergenic.

It was not intended that way. Just trying to provide factual info. There is no way I could know what your experience is with dogs from your original post.
So I simply added my comment as there is a lot of misleading information out there.

Cost i:ncludes spay/neuter.
Funds For Furry Friends.
Virden Pet Rescue.
One At A Time Rescue.
These are just a few.
