Is there anyone reading this know of an owner of a blood trail dog? Needed ASAP.

Dogs may not be used for any purpose connected with big game hunting.  
 
Unless this is a Most Dangerous Game situation, in that case have at it.

I didn't ask for a review of the Mb Hunting Regulations. I know them already. For your education (Some_Guy), the regulations also state:  
 
"A hunter who kills or injures a big game animal must make every reasonable effort to retrieve it. It is illegal to abandon or spoil the meat of a white-tailed deer, elk, moose or caribou."  
 
At this point I am not "Hunting", but have moved to the "Retrieving" stage. Therefor, I have need of the expertise of a trained dog to help me.  
 
Next time you want to chime in with your two cents of NVA (No Value Added), try not to waste mine, or others time. Otherwise, I will assume you cannot help me.

I read your post this morning and thought maybe I could help, we have trained our dog to track the scent of people, which he really enjoys, but since he has not been trained to do blood tracking it might be a mistake to volunteer to help with your problem. Did make the decision to train for blood tracking, just haven’t gotten around to it yet.  
The reason for training for tracking people is simple, we have grandchildren in a rural area.

I appreciate your offer. We searched for 12 hours today and have walked all over the area. I fear that a dog not specifically trained for blood may not work out. It has been 28 hrs since the scent was dropped. I'm going to search some areas tomorrow I feel the quarry may have gone to. Hopefully I get lucky.

Good luck with the retrieval. It is so disheartening not be able to find an animal. I wish you nothing but success, and commend you for not giving up.

I am going to check with the conservation people on this so I can have a heads up on things.  
Through my life there have been numerous times where I know people have wounded animals and not been able to find them, if they are badly wounded the coyotes would likely find them the first night. Quite often in hunting season you’ll hear them, and over time they seem to all sound to be in one location, but I have also seen a buck running around with his lower jaw dangling, which means the animal will likely starve.  
If we aren’t allowed to legally use dogs to find wounded animals, maybe it is time that the issue was addressed.  
Even if a person had to obtain a license to find wounded large game animals, I would be all for it given the number of laws concerning the humane treatment of animals.  
I will move ahead with blood tracking training, and as said by tlr I commend you on your efforts, shows a very responsible hunter.

I understand you are frustrated, I am a hunter as well. That said, I’d be very surprised if using a dog to track a wounded or killed animal (you don’t know which it is until you locate it) some how falls out side of the regulations.  
It does not say you can’t use a dog to hunt, it says you can’t use a dog for any purpose connected to big game hunting.  
Best of luck with your search, just don’t get yourself a hefty fine using a tactic that may not even work in the end.
