Hello fellow cat lovers!  
We had purchased a compressed cat toy in the shape of a candy cane for our cat the other day. Of course she has chewed and ate some of it.  
Are these cat nip toys safe for consumption?  
I have taken it away from her for now as I await your knowledge on the subject

The catnip itself is totally safe for consumption. Some cats get extra stoned if they eat it, so probably best in moderation.  
I looked up the product, if it is the one that has a little fake leaf on it - the leaf may not be totally safe depending on what it is made of. That said, if kitty chewed and at a bit of the leaf, it will likely just pass through if it is made of plastic or felt etc. There are some red and white stripes on the candy cane at the bottom - are those painted on, or is it like string wrapped around? If painted on, it should be safe for pet consumption. If string wrapped around, I would be leary of a pet eating the string, as it can get caught in the intestines when it tries to pass through.

for the answer! Yes i pulled off the flower as i thought it poked my cat in her eye and the string is now gone!  
She loves it!
