Just wondering what the costs/benefits/risks of taking a dog in for an ultrasound or not taking her in for one.. she may or may not be pregnant and a few people say take her to the vet for an ultrasound and a few have said she won't need one.  
I've tried doing some research but can only find ultrasounds are more to find out how many puppies and not necessarily for health reasons? Thoughts please??  
Also, what is the average price for an ultrasound for a dog in manitoba?

You need to know how many puppies. If you don’t know one could get stuck or not come out, and you wouldn’t know. This would cause death to the puppy and very possibly the mother.

I’ve known some people with dogs that got pregnant and didn’t wanna put out any costs to go along with the pregnancy. Just were looking at the end dollar amount of how much per pup they would get.  
 
In one instance they lost over half the litter and it cost them more then what they made of the remaining pups. In almost every case they original owners are left with one that doesn’t get claimed. Are you prepared to look after an extra dog?  
 
In any instance of life. Human or animal. A caregiver should be doing everything possible to look after the other. To cheap out on some ultrasounds is the last thing you want to do.
