Hello. I have a 3 year old Maine Coon cat and she is SUPER gentle and friendly.....until she hears the BATH. Then she turns into a VICIOUS KILLER TIGER who will shred you first with her giant murder paws then say sorry after. I have tried to bathe her a few times while wearing two hoodies but both times she came out dry and I was wet and the screaming and yowling noosing she makes when I try to bath her terrify me. LOL! Now I have had cats all my life and have never been scared to bath one....until now. If someone could come help me that would be so great! I am covid free and ask that masks be work inside my home. If someone can help me out this would be super as she’s never had a bath in the 3 years she’s been alive and she needs to have a good scrub down. Giving kitty anything to relax her before time? Or try a spray shampoo and detangler. I’ve had two different types of long furred kitty, one liked water and didn’t get matted and my new boy likes being in the tub but not the water and Matts like a SOB. But at least both enjoyed being brushed

I would take kitty to a cat groomer and let them bathe him. Sooooooo worth it

Am I a bad cat owner? My 17 year old cat has never had a bath in his life. He grooms himself.

I was thinking this too. It never occurred to me to bathe my cat. Is that maybe a thing you have to do for long-haired through?  
 
Mine was double-coated, but as long as I brushed her regularly most of the mats would keep away (I would cut out any that did form). She always smelled good too lol.
