The other day, I saw a Siberian Husky type dog that was completely shaved down to about 1.5" of fur over the entire body except the head and a tuft on it's tail.  
 
Is this normal? I've never seen a husky/shepherd/collie or anything in that spectrum with a shaved coat.  
 
I was always under the impression that the dogs are well adapted to summer heat with their heavy coats as long as there is cool water and plenty of good shade if outside.  
 
Or am I wrong??
