Feline Diabetes
12/2/2010 at 1:29 PM
We have now had a second cat diagnosed with diabetes, requiring two insulin injections daily.
I have had cats my whole life and have never had one who has gotten sick with diabetes and now to have two in the same household diagnosed a year about seems strange to me.
I know that feline diabetes is usually caused by a too-high carb and too low-protein diet , as carnivores cats should be eating nothing but meat BUT most cat foods have actually very little animal proteins any more.
We have switched to canned food and watch the labels but I am curious as to how many other cat-pwners are dealing with this disease. Is it becoming more prevalent? Thoughts?
