I have recently moved in with my boyfriend. We each have a dog. They get along great and everything was going awesome until it got cold out. My dog is completely house trained and is a very well behaved dog. my boyfriends dog has mainly lived outside. the yard is fenced and he has a dog house outside for her. Well since it is winter i like having them both in the house alot more now. Well my boyfriends dog has started this habit where she will not go to the bathroom outside when it is cold out. i have tried everything you can imagine to stop this habit. She sneaks down to the basement even two hours after i let her in after being outside half the day and pees down there sometimes poops too. I am baffled!! i have tried leashing her, I have tried giving her treats i have tried going out with her unleashed and coaching her, i have tried coaching her out the window. You name it i have done it. i have no idea what to do. you can let her out for half an hour and all she will do is sit at the door and wait. you punish her for the accident then she gets mad and pees all over the floor, god knows how there is any left in her. this is the most stubborn dog i have ever seen in my lifetime. She hates the spray bottle so i tried threatening her with it then she just hides. i am wanting to rip my hair out. Does anyone have any advice? i let the dogs out together thinking when she sees mine go to the bathroom she will follow nope she will not do it. i am totally stumped and beyond frusterated!!
