Needs a dog expert!!

My 9 month old pug just got her period on Boxing day!! We have put her in a diaper as well as dog diapers and she obviously hates it.. she hops around on one back leg, it breaks my heart! My hubby and I are going to be getting her fixed once she is finished her period, but has anyone used something else to use over there bums that won't make them hop around so much!! Its breaking my heart! I'd let her run freely but I don't want her on my bed or couches!!
