Kitty advice please

Our family is ready to fill the void left after our beloved cat passed away at the age of 18 (it's been a while now and nothing can replace the affection of a kitty!). We had rescued her as a kitten from the Humane Society. We would like to provide a home for another homeless animal but my better half would prefer a cat who has been declawed. Does anyone out there have a declawed cat who might be able to give me advice on the pros and cons of having a declawed cat? Your opinions would be most appreciated. Thanks.
