Probably Walmart

Walmart. Sometimes Dollarama gets decent cat toys in.

You will find loads in the ebrandon classifieds....  

I strongly suggest Dollarama for cat toys and such! The one on 18th street has the best selection. They even have laser pointers, cat nip filled toys and all kinds of the same stuff that is at Walmart for way cheaper. I even got my cat one of those balls that are enclosed in a circle and it goes round and round....my cat goes insane for it still and I've had it for almost 2 years now and it hasn't broken at all! Just don't get any toys with things like feathers or string/ribbons that kitty could chew off and choke on, I learned that the hard way. My kitty choked on a feather that came on a cat toy. And she choked on a long piece of thread that came off a toy once also, I tried to just pull the string out of her throat, but it was too long and was making her gag and yowel, so I had to cut it and hope I didn't need to make a trip to the vet to have it removed...I didn't thank heavens. If you want another place with a great cat toy selection, go to Pet Lover's Warehouse on Park Ave by Westman Cable. You can bring your kitty in the store with you and she can "test" a few toys so you can see what she may like! Have fun with your new kitten! OH! I almost forgot....you can also get kitty litter at the dollar store....way cheaper than anywhere else!

I have four cats, and have honestly found that even if I spend money on toys, they prefer to play with free things like brown paper bags (just ask for one next time you get groceries), empty thread spools, crunched up balls of paper, the little plastic strip that you take off the top of the milk jug, lids from pop bottles, string, a pine cone. Be creative for toys! I have also taken corregated cardboard from a box and taped it to the floor or wall for a scratch pad.

I agree with curlysister. Reusable bags, especially the crinkly ones, that you likely have anyway, caps off of pop bottles or milk jugs, anything big enough they can't choke on. I do highly recommend the plastics springs at Pet Valu or Walmart. My cats will play with them for hours! We have one of those round scratch pads with the ball and a cat tree that they use everyday as well. I wouldn't spend money on a cat bed. I wasted so much money buying them things when you can make stuff at home. Take a box and put a towel or small blanket in to make it cozy.

or anything they can make their cave. I bought a scratching post for my first cat, neither of them use it. A new dollarama toy at Christmas. One of my cats is obsessed with chasing around those spinning discs you pull with a zipcord. Oh, and if you watch flyers TSC up on the hill often has really good sales for litter/food.

I forgot about cardboard boxes! You can stack a few up and cut some holes in them too! Cats looooove boxes!!

Has lots of ideas to make your own from stuff around the house.  
Love the box with old tshirt over it with towel inside. Easy to clean.

 
I agree with curlysister that stuff around the house is best. A pizza box lasts about six days. Boxes by themselves or taped together with holes - I have a collection that I will use next December to build a "Tree" that the cats can climb around in.  
 
Lids are kitty hockey pucks.  
Cat Bed: use an old towel folded to size needed.  
Old pill containers with something in it to rattle.  
Beanie Babies - My cats have three and one or two of them will somehow get from the front window to my bedroom, ... often with great fanfare, ... at 3:00 AM.  
 
 
 

Get a package off the goody hair bands. My cat goes nuts for mine and won't even bother with the actual toys he has.
