My dog has a very sensitive stomach. I have tried nearly everything I can think of for quite a while. Trying different foods, giving him smaller portions at a time, trying at different times a day, I have also had different tips from friends, and he still vomites up his food, or white foamy bile. I was wondering if anyone has any problems with their dogs, drinking Brandon city water? I know that I cannot drink it because I have a sensitive stomach, and I get nauseous from Brandon water, if I drink too much . Giving him filtered water is something I haven't really tried or atleast been consistent with. Anyways I thought I would throw out the question, and see what kind of responses I get. Thank you very much!

I can't drink city water either without it being filtered - the smell of chlorine it is is so strong!!  
 
We have one of those waterfall water dishes for our animals that has the filter in it, I find they are drinking more since we got it.

The only way to find out if it's the city's water that's making your dog sick is to stop giving him that water. Give him water you would drink and if nothing changes then at least you can rule that out and see what a vet thinks it could be. Though I wouldn't go back to giving him city water even if it's something else. My cat doesn't drink it.

I find I can't stand the taste of city water straight out of the tap, but I fill a milk jug with it and keep it cold in the fridge and I find I like it better than any bottled water.  
 
Warm bottled water tastes especially nasty to me.

Do you know someone who lives outside of Brandon that you could get some water to try for awhile? Would be cheaper than buying bottled water for the dog.  
 
We live in the country and I hate city water...even my young son said the water tasted icky at a restaurant once...took a minute & my husband to try it to realize it was because it was city water!

Have you taken your dog for a vet exam? Maybe there is a physical cause for the vomiting?

I was going to say the same thing. Could be something wrong if it has a sensitive stomach.

I have not been able to afford a Vet as of yet! Id love to get him in, this will be my next step forsure. I have fridge filtered water and that is why i have not been very consistent. Plus i dont know how good those filters are in the fridge.

This has been going on for 2 years now, on and off sort of thing. Better in the summer worse in the winter. He is 8yrs old. When he breaths in cold air it really gets his stomach going! He is able to hold it down at times. Most of the time its a white foam.

I find the water actually good, however it tastes quite different at my workplace ,than at my home! I lived in a small town for many years and I can tell you the water there is awful compared to Brandon.

I would also contact a vet...even a phone consult might help...Hopefully you have a vet you deal with that you can call. People (I don't mean you in particular) don't realize the value of having a relationship with a vet - it can save you money in the long run....if the vet knows you & your animal, they are more likely to help you over the phone. (Has saved me A LOT over the years)  
 
If it is an ulcer, I know of a great product that is new in Canada for Equines & Canines that might be something to consider & to ask your vet about.

If this has been going on for two years, you really need to take him to a vet. Does that mean you haven't even taken him for his routine vaccinations in that time?

Can't afford the vet can't afford the pet. This is pretty simple. Cost of routine check ups and emergency care when required should be factored when considering on getting the animal. Nice that it has a home, I don't think it should suffer for two years because you have higher priorities financially than the dog.

My dog does this once in a while too! I never thought to blame it on the water he's drinking though. Definitely something I am going to watch out for now. It's not a regular thing, so I haven't taken him to the vet for it either. I have just been chalking it up to either he drinks/eats too fast or just has a touchy stomach now and then. Interesting though!
