After taking my cat to the vet today I was told to prevent the cat from jumping for next 2 weeks so people that had to go through it how did you confine your cat that period of time? A complete empty room or a cage, or crate or on a leash??  
I need to find a way by tomorrow I have furnitures in every room.

I used shredded paper for litter when I had my cat de-clawed. It worked really well.

I don't have a cat, but after I got my dog neutered I just put a cone on him and he couldn't lick the incision or jump on anything. It's annoying for them to wear it, but the safest and easiest way to keep them safe after a procedure like that.  
 
Also, with the huge cat population in Brandon, I think this cat would have very likely been put down if you weren't able to keep it. Declawing is obviously not the most humane thing to do, but if it means being able to keep your cat and therefore it doesn't get put down... I think that it's the best solution in this case. It was probably a difficult decision to put your cat through that, but it sounds like it was ultimately the best thing to do.

Shredded paper too. As for not jumping, I'm not sure what we did. That was a long time ago. Probably in a kennel when your not home and help them up and down when you're home.?

There are some good ideas. I was going to add that depending on what your kitty is like, I've found the bathroom to be a clean and relatively safe place for a kitty.(depending on your bathroom configuration/flooring) It's the room I've used successfully in the past with outdoor/new cats, and there's decent room for a litter box/bed. No cat has ever offered to jump on the closed toilet/sink.  
 
The large crate idea would also be a safe/secure choice for your kitty, especially if you work or are away from home.

Now that all aside. Our cat the newspaper works well. Also at the time we were working part time and such and I think we did a really good job of inspecting the feet so there was no litter stuck in the middle. Our cat is going on something like 13 years now with no issues. Perfectly fine. As for the jumping. We never had any issues. I think they are worried about jumping off something high like a counter top and splitting open a stitch. Again ours probably jumped when we were not around but I am sure it was only to what the animal was tolerating until things healed.

We tried to confine her to a room but she ended getting out and we took her back to the vets as she was bleeding and they housed her overnight  
And she was fine the next day-  
We had the natural declawing done so it was only 2 days  
 
To all you haters, is it wrong to circumcize a boy- ( people make individual choices for Them, not for Others Opinions)

This discussion had to be cleaned up of a number of off topic posts. I respect that there are passionate opinions on the general topic of declawing but would respectfully ask that a separate thread be started for folks that wish to have that debate so that the OP can have answers to the questions they've asked. It isn't an easy situation but the vet staffs were supportive too so I felt a little better. She said the cat should heal quick for her age and she will have a cone.  
MY CONCERN is the jumping part and put the cat in a cage the staff said it depends of the cat if she tries to fight and get out.  
I may put her on a leash in one room.  
Not easy for my cat and not easy for me.

When I declawed my cats I put them in the spare room. All that was in there was a bed and a dresser with a soft carpeted floor. They are more worried about them jumping from high place to the floor. Cats pretty much sleep while we are gone anyway. When your home you can let them out and supervise them.  
Don't feel bad about declawing your cat. They are sore from being fixed too. No different. There are soooo many homeless kitties. If you need to declaw them to give them a lifetime of love and a home.....it's worth it

picked her up yesterday, same as human after surgery your energy isn't high and tired so she slept and lied down alot.  
So far I tied her on a leash attached to a door knob in a hallway giving a reach to few feet in my bedroom and bathroom for her litter box and a bit area in the kitchen to go. I also put some yoga mat in the hallway for more padding to walk on. When going in the carpeted basement I will take her leash in the basement so she isn't alone upstairs.  
This morning she looks fine. Vet don't want any height jumping actually it is only glue at the end of paws.  
I felt better after talking to vet staff, they reassure you the cat will be fine if follow the after treatment procedures and lazer declaw is better way to do for healing.  
Next week she will be back being same cat and same behavior cat be just as cute.

Don't leave the cat on a leash when you go out, could get caught on something if it does jump! Just put it in a room with as little furniture to jump on and a litter box and a bed.

she is on a leash there is nothing to jump on and be caught in anything because it is a hallway and not enough space once she enters another room and she can reach only 4 steps in the stairs

I freed my cat this morning she did super good being confined on a leash for 2 weeks. I thought she would be meow the whole time just have 8 feet to move around and a cone on her neck. She was fine and ready to play and jump around more than 1 week ago but had to give time for the glue not open up to prevent complications otherwise all went better than I thought for the cat. Only 3 pills for pain to home after surgery I thought it would need more but cat was on her toes moving around the 2nd day home.  
Now she is investigating the house, back to playing, and jumping for the 2 weeks she missed.

Are resilient that way.  
 
Kind of like kids, you can't keep them down after surgery either. We do our best to keep them safe and comfy and hope they don't over do it.
