We have found that turmeric can be quite effective for pain and healing. You start with a small amount and build up as too much as an introduction could make for digestive upsets. Start with a small amount as this vet recommends and increase from there.
We get ours from Superstore in the Asian foods aisle. You can get a large bag of it toward the from part of the aisle. The brand is Suraj and it is a yellow and red bag. It is inexpensive.
As for healing ligaments, feed homemade bone broth made without onion (and give raw bones with marrow). Bones with marrow are inexpensive from a butcher and the marrow itself has great healing properties for dogs.
Hope this helps.
