I was wondering if anyone knows who might own a female husky that hangs around BU? She's been there for the past few weeks and is pretty skinny. She's friendly and is always seen eating garbage.

I feel pretty bad for her and I was wondering if anyone might know who her owner is. I am scared that animal control will put her down if she's caught.

Brandon and area lost animals (BALA) has a facebook page and you can contact them to find this dog. They will also try to find a foster home for the dog.

a chronic 'runner'. Maybe the dog will end up at the pound? I'd love another Husky, it wouldn't be running if I owned it

Has anyone called Animal Control yet? If the dog is not secured, it is at risk of being hit my a car or injured. If the dog is seen, please call Animal Control through BPS, 204-729-2345 right away to report it. If you are able to secure the dog, Animal Control can then take it to the Pound. If you are unable to secure the dog, Animal Control will do so.

I just walked around the entire BU campus looking for him...didnt see him...hopefully hes been reported or back with his owner

Give your head a shake. If you see a stray dog for weeks why in the world wouldn't you call Brandon police Animal control so they can help the dog. Like really

I'm also a student and I've seen the dog. Would happily bring the pup into my home if I could get to him! Haven't been able to yet.

I walk around the BU a couple of times during the day I haven't seen any husky there so I guess the owner or animal control picked her up

100% sure no one owns the dog? I would have no problem asking for the dog thru the pound either. Just to make it legal and I would want to know what kind of shape/health the pooch is in. I think if animal control picks the dog up it would get a good looking over for issues.

They want to find forever homes for the dogs too. Last dog we had was from the pound.

Its a huge misconception that animal control puts down dogs. This rarely to never happens. Funds for furry friends fosters dogs that are not picked up at the pound. Over time they find a loving home

The first time I saw her, she was running around like crazy so I figured she just ran away from home. I wasnt really sure what to do.

There is a huge difference between the humane society and the pound. Unless things have changed recently, the pound does put dogs down and I don't think it is a very long wait.

The pound will only put dogs down if they no longer have space to house them. I do not believe they have a statute of limitations on how long they dogs are allowed to be kennelled before being put down.

About three years ago my son went to the pound to find A dog and came home with three pups. They were to be put down the next day along with several older dogs. He had to convince himself the older dogs probably had a decent life or they would have come home with him too. I really hope you are right.

I didn't go far enough back to read Dare's message. That certainly sounds reasonable and something FFF would do. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I wish that happened when my son went ... Living in a small town and having 4 dogs at the time has caused a lot of heartache.

Really encouraged to read about the amount of folks looking out and helping. From the perspective of the forums, I'm going to close this thread since the forums unfortunately aren't setup to handle the quantity of lost and founds that take place in the city. We do have a Lost and Found section in the highly used classifieds that if strongly recommend this continue in. If you read this and have found the dog please post an ad if you can. There is actually a commenting option in that section that would allow folks to share tips on sightings and hopefully find this pup's home ASAP! Thanks to all who have shown they care!
