I know this is a long shot but I have a Sun Conure that is 14 Years old. He was a great bird but has turned psych and is only attached to my son. This is my last ditch effort to save his life prior to putting him down. I am wondering if there is anyone out there willing to take him on. If not I will have to put him down as we are moving out of Canada and can not take him with us. He is vocal but beautiful. Please let me know if anyone has experience or know another option.

There is a woman I know in Winnipeg that will work with you to rehome the bird. However she is very busy and you will have to do some work. If you are interested send me a pm.

have you contacted any of our local vets to see if they know of anyone who will take birds?

I have no experience with Sun Conures but do know that if a Love Bird is bonded with one person it can be extremely hard to break that bond and this can create very aggressive biting behaviour. If you are out of options I know the Winnipeg Humane Society does take birds. Sun Conures are such beautiful birds I'd hate to see one put down without first trying all options. Good luck.

Sunnies are known to be quiet and affectionate birds and I have no doubt that he can be helped.

Im really happy to see that this bird will find a home. I have been an avid bird lover since childhood and being originally from the West Coast was a supporter of the Parrot Refuge and GreyHaven in Vancouver since their beginnings....  
 
Just nice to see a situation like this resolved so quickly...

Agreed with Fballjunkie - great to see that the community is stepping up for this bird.  
 
If everyone else falls through, send me a PM. I have cockatiels and have intended to rescue a somewhat larger parrot for awhile now. My house is full of animals, so what's one more?
