Has anybody had there dog have garbage gut rot? I'm worried my dog might have it. Is there anything I can do at home to help him if he does? I can't afford to pay a vet Bill in full for him to get checked out. Please help

Symptoms does your dog have? Was there anything harmful to dogs he could have eaten?

I don't think there was anything harmful.  
 
He isn't eating much. He's still drinking.. still likes to play with his ball outside but he lays down after a few rounds of throwing it. He's not himself.

if is just "gut rot" (very upset stomach) from eating too much junky food from the garbage he''ll likely be over it in no more than 72 hours, but should be improving after 24. Usually panting, lethargy, diarrhea, abdominal pain etc. are the most common symptoms (flu like). If he''s still drinking and not becoming dehydrated unless it persists, or there was something harmful in there (cleaners, bones, things undigestable) you''re probably o.k. I would think. But I am not a vet

If you are still worried I would suggest calling her and asking the questions. Also she can tell you what she charges to do a housecall. They have everything in their mobile to treat pets.

When my dog had it, the vet indicated to feed simple food so his system can "restart". They sold food that helped him there. It was very reasonably priced - under $5 a can. They also said if I didn't want to buy it, to feed rice and ground beef. It happened again a year or so later and I just walked in to buy some - no appointment needed. It certainly helped! I got it from Grand Valley Animal Clinic.

Try a spoonful of raw pumpkin a couple of times a day. A can costs maybe $2 at superstore and can really help settle a pups tummy.

Thanks guys. I will try everything u said. His tummy has just been rumbling the past few days. I feel horrible

for the farm dogs that have feasted on a dead rotten animal carcass - it works like a charm and very effective. 1 cup of lean ground beef that has been boiled in a little water long enough to boil out the fat - then skim off fat. Do not overcook. 1 cup of rice cooked until sticky, 1 can of tomatoes - well cooked - 1 tsp garlic powder Place slightly cooked ground beef, sticky rice, cooked tomatoes including juice and garlic powder into a blender and puree. Feed to you dog on a regular basis. The hamburger provides nourishment, the rice attaches to the garbage and eliminates same through bowels, the tomato neutralizes any bad bacteria and the garlic powder is an appetite stimulant.

Please take your dog to the vet. We can all tell you what we think is wrong but without a vet visit you just don't know. I know the visits can be expensive but I also know that the vets does not want your dog to be sick or die because you cannot afford the vet bill. Call around and explain and see if anyone will take a payment plan. I think you might be surprised at how caring they are.

Ours does this every year. We were told to not feed him for a day or 2 and give him small amounts of cooked rice after.

If you look at her past "tweets" its advertisements to support a fly-by night home business. There are also past go-fund-me requests for vet bill coverage for a pet named Callie, and two separate other go-fund-me's to help her start up, and continue operating her home business. Note they are from 2014.  
 
Just thought i'd let everyone be aware of this before a kind hearted-open pockets ebrandoner comes along. NOt denying that your dog may be sick, just pointing out that you have a history of seeking others money for your own issues.

Yes I made those go fund me account years ago. When I was in a tough spot. I only posted the link in the conversation no where else so not sure what ur talking about.

To Ram who posted to add garlic, maybe if you were making spaghetti you would add garlic but for dogs it can actually do more damage. Same with onions or chives.

You can pick it up at almost any vet office, about $35 for a 1-month supply. It's a powder you just sprinkle on their food. Helped mine with diarrhea several times.  
But I have to agree on taking the dog to a vet because it could be something much more serious.

In small doses is beneficial to dogs in controlling worms, ear mites, etc. You might want to read up on the research in regards to garlic. A research paper done by Dr. Ann-si Li, DVM and Professor of Vet Medicine at Oakland, Calif. states "One of garlics properties is that it helps regulate the liver and gallbladder. That helps the digestive system get back on track" For small pets she recommends 1/4 to half a clove and for larger pets 1-2 cloves per day. Garlic powder just happens to be a little more convienent. Its unfortunate that our vets in Canada are so far behind in their education compared to the Vets in the USA.
