Puppy Classes

I have a 10 week old Retriever cross, and want to get her in some classes. My question is, what have been your experiences? Looking for basic training, commands, manners, fetch, etc.

What is the best place in Brandon to register with?

I second Two Brown Dogs. I took my dog to Good Dog 1 and Good Dog 2 (basic manners classes) and a fun and games for little dogs class. Renee is excellent, she is a certified trainer (one of very few in the area), uses only positive reinforcement, and is very patient with both owners and dogs.

The only one I was really looking at/found was Crocus kennel club.

My sister went to Crocus a number of years ago, they used negative reinforcement training (ie- choke chain collars) back then. Their website states ''positive but not permissive'', so not sure if exactly what that means as far as methods.

Two Brown Dogs uses only positive reinforcement (ie- ''Clicker'' training). Here''s their link:

Took our pup there last year for puppy classes and there was no evidence of any negative experience. It was positive for both us and the dog.

We went to Crocus and they were awesome, especially the lady who taught the puppy class!

They have a really good setup for puppy classes.
Myself and a friend have both had bad experiences at Crocus as they are all volunteers and not certified dog trainers. Two Brown dogs is good and runs classes all through the summer.

Went to their beginner class last year and it was great! no negative reinforcement at all, all positive with puppy games!
