What are your thoughts on this breed? Hoping to here both pros and cons to help make a decision.

Be prepared for regular Grooming (d sheds)... Hair lots of hair... they have a thick under coat so if they are to be inside expect to clean hair up a lot...  
also hear they like to wander.

Just doing some research on this particular breed. Hoping to hear from owners on their experiences, as we are considering this breed.

I have never owned a Husky but have known many people who have. They run. It's what they were bred to do. If they get off leash or out of a yard, they will run and run and run. They have a high prey drive, and aren't necessarily to be trusted with smaller dogs, cats, etc. They can be very vocal. They aren't my type of dog, but I admire their beauty!

We have a husky cross lab! She is a rescue and the biggest suck ever haha she’s our third husky cross. They are extremely smart dogs. Our one if she’s off leash she will run but she comes back when you call her. Our other one likes to stick near me. She never goes where I can’t see her. They do shed like crazy so if you aren’t crazy about lots of hair I wouldn’t suggest getting one. I think it’s the way you raise them. Like I said our two are both husky crosses and very different from one another. They have very strong attitudes also. Our older one is extremely stubborn. They are just like people with their own personalities haha

Ours is a husky German Shepard cross and did like to run, but we spent a fair bit of time working with her and I would say she behaves like most dogs. Outside dog so we don't worry about the excess hair.

He pulled!! Whenever I would walk him he would want to run and if I had him on a leash, he would pull me with him. He was always pulling so hard it would choke him.  
 
Didn't matter how much we tried to train him he wouldn't stop!

The hair is a very hard thing to deal with, they shed constantly but worse after winter and before winter it seems.  
 
My pure Siberian Husky is very stubborn and a strong puller. They were made to work, my dog was trained very well when he was younger but as he ages he tends to do more of what he wants to do.  
 
They are great companions, my dog loves to cuddle on the couch and senses when something is wrong or I am upset. However you will need to get used to the hair.  
 
Nothing you will do is going to help with the hair, I can't imagine having any other type of dog.

Our boy is great. Quiet. Doesn't howl or bark. Let's a low growl to warn people at the door. We have him on a harness type with leash and he walks well. No pulling and easy to manage. Great with cats. Does shed but not as bad as a pug.

Can be the best dog you've ever had or the worst. Like German Shepherd's you have to be the dominate one. They will test you on how much you will let them get away with. When bored they can get destructive ie eating your furniture. They will be most comfortable to spend most of the day outside but you and your neighbors will prefer them to be inside at night due to their love of howling. They also talk back like a teenager would. They love to express their opinion. As for shedding any dog with a double coat drops the second coat, expect that twice a year. but they shed a little all year. For dental health I recommend raw bones from your butcher. It will clean their teeth and keep them occupied when needed.

First, know what you want. Siberian or Malamute, puppy, or adult. They are working dogs and need something to do. Check out the breed clubs. You will get better info from them and from reputable breeders. Breed clubs will also be aware of (or should be) any rescues in need of homes.

Be prepared for LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of hair- oh did I mention they have LOOOOOTTTTSSS of hair- I have a 5 year old male Siberian Malamute ( mom was a Siberian husky, dad was an Alaskan Malamute ) and if Im being honest I dont know if i would get this breed of dog again based just on the hair- He has a great personality and disposition - very vocal and insanely intelligent, knows the difference between his ball, bone, squeaky and "rocket" , he will let you know if hes hungry, or wants outside and even if his water is low- but I would strongly recommend against this breed if you have small children who will be crawling around on the floor as the hair is horrible- they drag all sorts of stuff in the house in the spring due to the thick hair between the pads on their feet, and need LOTS of exercise - a walk will not do it, I have to bike mine IOT expel some of his energy.

I have had mine for several years now. He was a rescue and just under a year old when he came to my home. He is an inside dog, travels all the time with me and is unlike any dog I have had before.  
Incredibly intelligent, attentive and attached. They are a breed that requires much attention. They do not like to be left alone and I can see that they would probably get into trouble if left to their own devices for too long at a time. Mine will come looking for me. I have never had difficulty with him roaming. In fact he never gets far away and makes sure he knows where I am at all times. He has never been noisy but I think they may be as a result of his experiences before he came to me. If he does make noise there is a reason.  
He is on good food and the hair is not really an issue. He is groomed, gets out for exercise on a regular basis and is very much part of the family. He is very affectionate and lets you know if he is feeling neglected.  
He is awesome but, if this is the first time with a dog and you are not prepared to spend a good amount of time with them: this may not be the dog for you.

I was a breeder of siberian huskies/alaskan malamuted for yearssss.  
 
They are a double coated breed and will "blow" their coats twice a year. You'll get huge chunks of fur off them.  
 
Most of the time they are stubborn. Extremely smart, high energy and escape artists. They can also dig. They require around a 6ft fence and dig guards(so they cannot dig out), ive had a couple climb my 8ft fence before. Ive even had them break the fence to get out to chase an animal in the yard. High prey drive. My one is good with our cats and rabbit but my others wouls kill them in an instant. They love their famipy, and are usually very social. They make poor guard dogs for the most part.  
They can be very destructive when bored.. they love to be outside. Theyre mostly quiet animals. Mine will bark if something is wront but more or less they do howl. They will pull on leash if not trained properly, they are a breed that was bred to pull a sled 20 miles a day.. they can run. They will run. They need a lot of attention and care. Of course each husky is different. They are very sweet and loving dogs.  
 
Malamutes are even more stubborn then a husky ;-)  
 
Ive had a bunch of different northern breeds over the years. As well as shepherds.

I have had the joy of having 3 different huskies over the span of more than 35 years. They do shed a lot of hair, get them deshedded a couple times, helps a ton. They do like to run...a lot...males more than females. Like any dog, the more training you do with it, the easier it is to look after. My 2nd one, I could drop her a mile from the farm and she'd run straight there on her own! The male we had did like to wander. They also like to "talk". My 1st female was somewhat famous in town for her singing. One other plus with them is they don't have the "dog" smell to them, nice dry fur, not oily at all. I also have a Golden Retriever that is 3 years older than my husky and he's the one that can't sit still!
