just wondering where people get the best rates for home insurance and why is insurance so expensive for single dwelling homes There are 26000 homes in Brandon roughly if each home owner is paying $1300 per year for insurance it works out to be $33800000.00 per year paid to insurance companies in our city alone So I am talking residential only not commercial Why has nobody ever looked at starting a local coop insurance where money after costs is let roll over to drive down our local insurance costs Lets face it how many homes are total losses in Brandon per year maybe 10 so if they were all 1000000 homes we are still ahead 320000000 dollars if each home was paid out in full to rebuild Just wondering if anyone has ever looked at this

There is way more to your numbers than total loss. How many insurance claims are hail damage, water damage, sewer back up, etc. My house I pay $500 a year in insurance. in the 12 years I have lived there they have gotten $6,000 from me. If my house was a total loss they would need to rob from a lot of other premiums to cover me. Look at the fire downtown. How many millions of dollars in insurance to rebuild and replace what was lost. What if someone is injured on your property? There is also the liability insurance to cover too.

I just had my first insurance claim on my house ever. It was a water claim. The professionalism was amazing. And it sure didn’t take a lot to wrack up some serious costs. So insurance is important and necessary from my limited experience
