I’ve seen a lot of ad’s on fb and online about debt relief/consolidation. How do you know which one is actually for real and not some sort of scam.

They usually put on a free information night @ GVCC about 3 times a year. It’s open to anyone to attend/free as well.

Some of these companies do not do what they say they will. I recommend you listen to a get out of debt coach that has millions of followers in the United States. There is a free app you can download called Dave Ramsey which will give you his daily podcast where people call in and ask for advice about their debt. He has written many books as well. You can also search him up on YouTube . He has a 7 step plan for getting out of debt and it works. You’d be surprised that you can actually do this yourself once you have a plan. This guy gives you a plan. (More surprising is that it isn’t complex or hard to understand, he makes it very simple.)He has been doing this show for about 20 years, so it is tried and true. Good luck.
