Other than CPP and OAS, what other income options are there for a person over the age of 65 living with disabilities?  
 
What about help with medical costs or rent?  
 
What about housing? Is there such a thing as an apartment building that allows it's tenants independence and privacy, but also has staff on hand to help with things like meds, meals, bathing, falls, etc. If so, how is rent determined? Is it based on income, or is this an expensive service?  
 
I appreciate any advice.

When the application was made for OAS....there is another form to be filled out for the GIS - Guaranteed Income supplement......it is based on income level....ex....Under $17000 last tax year would qualify for the max I know for a couple it is almost $800 more every month....also...if the income was low when getting pensions my qualify for 55 plus...$170 paid quarterly....

The only building I can think of with partial assisted living is Sokol Manor in the back portion (not the front apartments) has assistance. Other than that the kind of care you are describing is would be a nursing home.  
 
Riverheights Terrace, Victoria Landing, and the newer building at the old police station all have meals and some house keeping (but rent is very pricey).  
 
Other than that I think the best bet is Manitoba Housing with Home Care for the assistance the individual is requiring.
