Hey guys,  
There is another bank scam! This time it is CIBC the scammers are targeting. I tecieved a text telling me to go onto the website www.cibc-banking.com to update my security information. Sounds legit, but of course I am suspicious of anything online and asking for personal information. So of course I called the CIBC 1-800 number on my bank card and confirmed that is indeed a scam.  
No bank will text you. No bank will ask you to log into a linked website address. And every bank employee will ask you to come into the local branch office, but will never ask you over the telephone for personal information. (Unless you call them)  
Please tell your loved ones (especially the elderly who are particularly vulnerable to scammers) that there is another bank scam circulating around western Manitoba.

I received this text message today too!

they texted both my work and home cell(Rogers) and all mo colleagues cell phones today too (Rogers).  
the web link goes to a really well-designed website that is likely to snag some victims because of the official look and layout of their scam website.

Yup got it today, I don't even bank with CIBC lol

I got the same text. It's funny because I'm on Rogers and a lookup of the SMS code number the message came from (7000) says that it was sent by MTS customer service...

Two of us received the text this evening while golfing.

I think the same thing happened to me. I got an e-mail telling me that my TD account was restricted until I confirmed something. I clicked on the link and my browser said it was fraudulent, so I closed the page immediately. I believe that TD Canada - or any reputable bank for that matter - would never send these kinds of e-mails.

It was so obvious it was a scam because I don't even deal with CIBC. But it's sad how many people will actually fall for this
