CIBC - Smart Account ?????

I have opened a "Smart Account" at the CIBC - and was advised of the deposit and payment activity needed to warrant the $300.00 reimbursement for "Opening the Account".
Well, 2 months into this - I have not received the $300.00 - and just today contacted their toll free number - and the gal informed me that "The account MUST be 1 year active - no NSF''s and THEN they will deposit the $300.00 into your account after 90 days!!!!
I am not sure how many of you also fell for this ploy - but did they advise YOU of the 1 year active period, then the 90 days wait period AFTER the 1 year - before the $300.00 would be deposited into your "Smart Account"???
Guess we can''t even believe in the Bank Advertisements. Just advising you - in case you too are awaiting the $300.00 deposit - and feel misinformed. What is your experience with this?
