I have been thinking about it for a while now to simplify life but have not yet tried it. I just recall hearing about a man that died and nobody found him rotting in his house till his bank account was emptied from his pre-authorized payments. I have no idea if this story is true or not but it has always stuck with me.  
 
All thoughts and opinions, good or bad, are welcome.

I prefer to see the bill prior to paying. If by chance there is an error with the bill, I prefer to have it dealt with before I pay the bill. I pay all of my bills online btw

I do all my bill paying by pre-authorized chequing or pre-authorized withdrawals. Much simpler. Especially if you're going to be away from home for a lengthy period of time...  
i.e....snowbirds. As for seeing the bill first and being able to deal with any discrepancies before hand...all my bills are emailed out to me 10 to 14 days before the withdrawal date. So lots of time to settle any issues.

I have all my bills set up for bi-weekly payments. Even bills like MTS or the water bill which aren't pre determined amount, I just give them a set amount every 2 weeks that will cover the amount owing by the time the bill shows up.
