So I'm on a job hunt. I got a call that I was invited to attend a group interview. There would be 10 other interviewees. I need to bring my portfolio and interview would be 1.5-2 hours long. I'm freaking out. Any HR people out there that can give some pointers? I'm in the education field.

I did my first group interview last year- 10 of us for that as well, flown to Colorado to head office, over 2 days! It was definitely the most stress I've ever faced in a job interview situation.  
 
I think the advice is similar to any other job interview advice, though- know as much as you can about the organization you're working hoping to work for, know everything you should for your field, and also go in representing yourself as you would if you got the job. So, know their corporate ethics, policies, directions, etc., so you're not written off by answering one thing wrong.  
 
Most of all, go in there with confidence! If you walk in there prepared to be your best self and they don't hire you, it doesn't mean that you failed, just that you aren't the right fit for that organization.  
 
Oh- definitely bring pen and paper if allowed. You'll want to make notes while other people answer so you can build on their responses.

I worked for a larger food, beverage and entertainment busiess and we had a large staff turnover, yet were trying to have high servicce standards. We hired a firm to analyze our needs and they designed an "interdition" which was half interview, half audition for us and it had great results. It showed the true personality and character of the job seekers in addition to their previous skills and experience. I don't want to give away all the secrets to their success, but I encourage you to be honest and relaxed and confident, and don't be phony, cause it will show thrrough. Sometimes we would only hire 1 or 2 of the ten, other times 5 or 6 at a time. We soon had a full staff of competent people.

I started one in college but haven't kept it current... what were you looking for in a portfolio?? My current employer didn't ask so never took it with me for interview. This employer has asked so I need to brush my portfolio up a bit!! Any tips on portfolios?
